Here we are recording one of many purrs from the cats at Cowboy Cat Ranch. The right light indicates that the recording of Vlinder's purr is in progress. We use a Zoom F3 audio recorder and a costly Sennheiser MKH 8020 microphone. We need this microphone because purrs are such low frequency vibrations, with fundamental frequencies as low as 22 Hz! Most microphones are not able to accurately capture the feline purr.
